Our Services -
Activities
Staff will work with young people to develop individual and stimulating programmes of activities based on the young person's choice. Young people who are unable to advocate their preference will be offered activities they are known to enjoy and are given the opportunity to experience new activities.
At home and in the community
Activities will be developed in the home, i.e. games, craft and individual hobbies, and staff will also develop activity programmes in the community using local services and facilities. This will include activities such as horse riding, swimming, use of a gym/leisure centre, shopping, cinema, days out to sites of interest, roller-skating etc.
On a day to day basis young people can expect to go bowling, ice skating, to the cinema, to the gym, swimming, eating out at restaurants, on trips to theme parks, horse riding and go-karting.
Young people are encouraged to explore hobbies inside the home that include art and craft, computers, glass decoration, handicraft etc.
Excursions
Young people at The Boulters regularly take part in excursions away and we also own a caravan that is pitched on a caravan site in Poole. Whilst staying at the caravan, young people are able to use all amenities provided by the site. In the past our excursions have included:
- adventure excursions
- to the Highlands of Scotland
- to Wales
- to the Peak District
- and the Birmingham canals
- trips to holiday camps
- rock climbing, canoeing, sailing and walking
- camping in the New Forest
- climbing mountains in Scotland and Wales
- going shark fishing and paint-balling in Cornwall
As well as recreation and enjoyment, there is an emphasis on developing group and social skills.
All activities are fully risk-assessed and included within the cost of the placement.
